e-LV PUBLISHING

The Editions Elv will provide the editing and translation of manuscripts originally archived in text mode. This will be done according to international standards (XML/TEI), so that the e-documents of our online publications will be of very high quality. (For details concerning the experience of the best specialists in the field of e-publishing, see e.g. Telma. Traitement électronique des manuscrits et des archives (http://www.cn-telma.fr).

Because we care both about the long term future and universal availability of our philosophical archives, we have chosen open-ended solutions for storage. This choice explains why the XML format has been favoured. (Please note that this format has been set up by the World Web Consortium.) The XML grammars most favoured today are the METS format, as set up by the Library of Congress. With respect to the coding of ressources, we use TEI.

This choice will garantee that our sources (both digitalized manuscripts and printed texts) are independent of both currently available and future applications for coding and digitalization. It allows a wide ranging cooperation with other sites and archives and gives scholars and scientists much leeway with respect to the editing of manuscripts.
